Microsoft Outlook Express
This document will help you configure Microsoft Outlook Express to manage your E-Mail account.
Note: Earlier versions of Internet Mail and Outlook Express version 4.72 and earlier are not supported and will not function with your E-Mail account. It is recommended that you upgrade to at least Outlook Express 5.5 or
higher. Updates and later versions of Outlook Express can be downloaded at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/. To get later versions of Outlook Express you must actually download later version of Internet Explorer.
Step 1
Open Microsoft Outlook Express. Likely, you will have a screen that looks something like this:

Step 2
On the Tools menu, select Accounts. The Internet Accounts dialog will appear.
Go over to the Mail tab to see if any accounts are already set up. If you aren't going to be using this software for any other E-Mail service, remove any accounts that are there so the window is blank as shown here. To do this, click on the account name, then click on Remove to the right.

Step 3
Click the Add button and select Mail. You will be prompted to enter your name. Enter your name as you would like it to appear on messages you send out. When someone receives your mail, it will show that it came from whomever or whatever you enter in this field. When you're done, click Next.

Step 4
Make sure a dot is next to the option I already have an E-mail address I'd like to use, then fill in the necessary information from the table below then click on next.
 | Enter your E-mail address. (username@core.com, username@voyager.net, etc…) |

Step 5
Now, you'll be asked to provide the names of the mail servers you use. Here is the information you need to know:
Your incoming mail server is a POP3 server.
 |
Your Incoming Mail Server is dependant upon your E-mail address. If you
already know your incoming mail server, type it in where indicated below.
If you are not sure what your Incoming Mail Server is, please click
here before continuing. |
 | Your outgoing mail server is authmail.core.com |
Enter the information as shown here and click Next when you've done this:

Step 6
Now you'll need to enter the following
- Your Account name (username) and password. Your Account name
is the first part of your E-Mail address (everything before the @ symbol).
Make sure your Account name is typed in all lowercase.
- We do not use Secure Password Authentication, so do not check this box.
After you have entered this information, click Next.

Step 7
Now, click Finish to save all of your information.

Step 8
You'll notice that the Internet Accounts dialog box now shows that your Mail
Account is installed. Click the Properties button and then the Servers
tab.
 |
This will be indicated by what you typed in earlier as your Incoming Mail
Server. |

Step 9
On the servers page you will notice that the Incoming and Outgoing mail server
information has already been filled in. Place a check next to "My server
requires authentication." Now, click the Settings button.
 |
Your Incoming Mail Server is dependant upon your E-mail address. If you
have been following this walkthrough, then the Incoming Mail Server should
already be in this field. If it is not, please click
here to locate your Incoming Mail Server settings, and then type them
in where indicated below. |
 | Your outgoing mail server is authmail.core.com |

Step 10
Select the Log on using option and enter your E-Mail address
and password where indicated.
 |
Your Account Name is your full E-mail address (Ex. username@core.com,
username@voyager.net, etc…) |

Click OK and then OK again. At the Internet Accounts
dialog box, click the Close button. Your Outlook Express is now configured
to work with our mail server.
Helpful Pointers for using Outlook Express:
- Outlook Express (OE) automatically checks for new messages periodically
while the program is open and you are connected to our service. If at any
given time you want to force the software to check for messages immediately,
simply click the Send and Receive button in Internet Mail.
- After setting up Outlook, it is often helpful to close the program and then
restart it.
- To write a new message, simply click on the New Mail button. Make
sure you enter in the full Internet E-Mail address correctly to ensure the
message gets where it's supposed to go.
- When replying to a message, just click the normal Reply button. This
will send your reply to the author of the message that you're replying to.
- If a message you're replying to was sent to a group of people, you can click
the Reply to All button to send your reply to everyone on the list,
but it is advised that you do this only when necessary.
